Critical Information All School Owners Need to Know
There are ongoing threats to your business– Gainful Employment, CDR’s, 90/10, Financial Ratios, State Authorization, Re-Authorization. But there are many other issues you may not be aware of and they can impact your business:
■ A class action lawsuit against beauty schools currently covering 42 states and over 400 schools
■ Attorney general investigations of beauty schools
■ An increased trend of beauty schools being sued by former students and employees
■ Impending decrease of clock hour requirements
■ Pre-graduate testing and more
This is the most critical time for private, for-profit schools in the past 30 years and, unfortunately, many school owners are unaware of these threats. There are well regarded estimates that as many as 30% of our beauty and wellness schools will not be in business within the next two years. Hear presentations from our General Counsel, Ed Cramp and senior members of his legal team as well as Tom Netting and key members of the AACS Government Relations Committee. The arrows are coming from many directions and we want to provide a forum for you to learn more and discuss strategies that need to be implemented to help you stay in business.
Complimentary Meeting & Dinner, May 2 | 5 pm – 8pm
This meeting is an opportunity for an open, candid discussion on these topics, providing you with information that can help you weather these storms. You will walk with information on:
■ How to handle questions from staff and students about why students are not paid wages for working in the clinic
■ Leading indicators that your state’s attorney general may be taking an interest in your school
■ Top 5 warning signs seen in beauty schools being sued by students
■ Forecasting data to help you create a business plan for the future
Following the presentation is a complimentary working dinner that will provide a chance for you to discuss these important issues with your peers from across the country. No staff members or guests. Just your fellow owners who are all in the same boat, regardless of school size or location, accredited or not. Many of these issues can impact every licensed school, whether your students are eligible for Title IV or not.
