AACS Praises House Resolution 168
Honoring Education for the Beauty and Wellness Industry
March 6, 2019 SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) welcomes and celebrates U.S. House of Representatives Resolution 168, honoring the educational and training institutions for the beauty and wellness industry. Designating March 6, 2019 as “National Beauty and Wellness Education Day” highlights to the industry and the communities they serve the importance of proper training and licensing of beauty and wellness professionals.
Resolution 168 recognizes the aggressive industry job growth over the next decade, which far outpaces the national average for all occupations, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. It acknowledges the hundreds of hours of education, study and training required to prepare and pass states’ licensing and certification to practice, and the opportunities institutions like AACS members provide to those seeking to enter the workforce.
“On behalf of the AACS Board of Directors and our member schools I would like to thank the Representatives Al Lawson, Jr. (FL) and Lee Zeldin (NY) and the U.S. House of Representatives for recognizing our beauty and wellness industry,” said Michael Halmon, AACS board president. “Our members work diligently to ensure our students receive a high-quality education preparing them for entry into this industry field. Oftentimes, our graduates, who are not traditional students, cite their completion of beauty school as changing their lives forever. They are able to transition into a successful career and provide for their families like many never previously imagined.”
